I was blog-hopping when I came across a blog by a Roman Catholic girl who has recently converted to Mormonism. I didnt know much about the Mormon beliefs and doctrines. Most of my knowledge came from a Southpark episode where the founder of the Mormon Church of Latter-Day Saints (Joseph Smith) is ridiculed.

So I have been Googling for more info on the mormon church and I'm simply appaled by what I've read so far. This is one of the many pages I found.
Seems like there is an unending effort to pervert God's word in any way possible.

My Googling also led me to another page which deals with the Creation Vs Evolution topic yet again.

Something more to ponder about.

PS - Happy Valentines Day y'all :)

I'll still maintain my principle of neutrality.I think everyone has his/her right to believe in a faith of their choice. As long as a religion respects that right,i dont see anything wrong in someone following it.. All i ask for is tolerance to others for their beliefs. And i dont think i'm asking for much

A lot of things are being said about the Mormon Church... I read all thos websites already and came to the conclusion that I wouldn't know the actual truth unless I read the Book of Mormon. I've always been very spiritual and one thing I can tell you is that the Book of Mormon will bring you closer to Jesus than any other book. It complements the Bible in a way that it simply couldn't have been the work of men. I suggest for you to visit : http://www.mormons.org for more information :) Feel free to email if you've got questions

Not sure how far you can go with the sentiment... even from a objective perspective, it seems like you would need to make some distinctions about what beliefs are acceptable and what aren't (an extreme case - suppose someone's beliefs include a need to blow up people in a neighboring country?). And once you enter the arena of right and wrong beliefs, then the question needs to be asked about how right and wrong is decided. So actually absolute tolerance IS asking for too much.

But all that apart, I actually wanted to mention to you Royston, that Mormonism was absolutely alien to me till I went to the states - I don't believe it's so prevalent in our part of the world. I'm sure it's coming, though, because Mormons are huge proselytizers.

Skinnyman -I'm asking for religious tolerance. Not more.Roy findin the mormon religion appalling just because it preaches something different from what the Bible says,is disturbing, especially because roy's a devout christian. If the entire christianity takes his personal view as its stance, the situation does become disturbing,if not communal.

Plus why is it difficult to mind our own businesses? Why is the faith of a girl who is as far away as quebec, ruffling feathers here? She found mormonism comfortin.so she converted. Its her personal point of view..

On a lighter note,i actually wouldn't mind people who believe in blowing up our western neighbour;) or at least its military HQ

Did you actually follow any of the links that I posted and read the comment from Val? The Book of Mormon is supposed to be an extension of sorts to the Bible and is not supposed to say something different. But thats exactly what it does claim. This is what I find appaling.

The Quran also has many things to say which are different from the Bible but no one claims the it 'compliments' the Bible.

Acts 1:8 ”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth.”

This is why I find it difficult to mind my own business. It would be concerning to me even if she lived further away than Quebec.

And regarding my views being biased, you arent the only one who thinks that way. I totally agree with you.

My views are biased towards Christianity and Im not making any excuses about that.
