If Chrisitanity says that Jesus is the ONLY way and Hinduism says there are many ways then how can there ever be a Golden mean?

If a Christian says that we have a personal God and an Atheist says that there is no God...you get the picture.

Two people with diff opinions will never be able to see eye to eye but there is always religious tolerance...

World-war...maybe not...but definitely a search for the ultimate truth :)

Good post, dude... There seems to be a movement in the church towards unity that is good, people who are committed to reformation doctrine but differ on the minors like the gifts of the Spirit, etc - but other movements are a little more dangerous. An example would be the movement for Evangelicals and Catholics to unite for example. How can apostacy and truth unite? There are some things that just cannot be reconciled.

I think within the evangelical movement there is a place for unity, where so much fighting is done over relatively small issues, to the point where people don't fellowship as brothers and sisters in Christ. And that's definitely sad. We sometimes treat unbelievers better than people with erroneous understanding of scripture.

The other issue is grey areas - some doctrinal issues do not have a clear solution, and some have chosen one or the other side... there we need to be even more big-hearted, don't we?

All things considered, practically unity can be a challenge. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be sought?

@Grafx: When I posted this little message a week ago, I too felt that there will always be the protestant-catholic rift but just today I learnt that in some parts of India, priests with protestant views are being accepted into the Catholic church...something that would never have been accepted earlier! God can really work in the most difficult of situations innit?

ishita: Things are going great Ishi, one week left before I finish my training and am put onto a project here. Its been exactly one month since I came here and Im starting to feel at home :)
Made many new friends here and I can see myself breezing through the coming year with ease!

i wondered too,why there were so many denominations..and why people chose to progress with what they picked out and made their method of worship...wish there was just one church,it would help a great deal...coz there wouldnt be fights among the christians..goodness knows there;s enough of that happening without us adding to it.

so now... there's a whole non-denominational approach to christianity starting.

but there will always be a rift between the catholics and protestants....its come to the point where the catholics dont think the protestants ARE christian.

God really has infinite patience and grace for us.
